Accessing a remote host

Learn how to use Cased Shell on remote instances.

Using the application itself to access a host is very straight-forward. Visit your Cased Shell application at, e.g, myshell.mydomain.net.

1. Login to Cased

You'll be prompted to login via Cased. Enter your Cased credentials, or login with your IdP. You'll be redirected page to your Cased Shell instance (if it's your first run, you may need to go back to your shell directly myshell.mydomain.net after being logged into Cased).

2a. Select a host with SSH Certs enabled

Pick a host from the select menu. A host with SSH Certs enabled will be labeled with the green "ssh certs" tag.

2b. Select a host with SSH Certs disabled

Pick a host from the select menu. A host with SSH Certs disabled will be labeled with the yellow "auth required" tag.

Then simply upload the SSH private key required to access the host.

3. Start Shell

You are now in a real remote shell. You now have all the functionality of your typical SSH session coupled with the capabilities of a web browser.
